GROW: Week 2

Congratulations, family! We have finished the second week of our prayer and fasting.

The Bible tells us that as children of God, we are designed to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. This growth is not optional—it is essential for our spiritual journey. We are called to progress towards maturity, reaching the fullness of Christ, and bearing Kingdom fruits that last. Stagnation is never a part of God’s plan for our lives. Just as a tree continues to grow, so must we, constantly moving forward in our relationship with God and His purposes for us.

As we continue to press on this 21-day fast, this is a perfect opportunity to assess our spiritual growth. Are we moving forward or have we become stagnant in certain areas? Consider your personal attitudes, knowledge of God’s Word, and your prayer life. Are you developing a deeper understanding of who God is? Are you passionate about spending time in His presence, or has your relationship with Him become routine?

1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

PSALM 1:1-3

Even within our life groups or ministry teams, we may sometimes face stagnation. Has the excitement of reaching others with the Gospel faded? Are we growing in our capacity to serve and love others, or has complacency set in? The Holy Spirit desires to breathe new life into all areas of our lives. During this fast, invite the Holy Spirit to break off any stagnation and renew your passion for growth.

As we move on to the third stage of our fast, I challenge you to ask yourself these questions:

Application:

  1. Assess your spiritual growth: Take a moment to reflect on how you're progressing in your relationship with God. Are you growing in grace and knowledge, or are you stagnant? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas in your life that need attention.

  2. Examine your attitudes and prayer life: Our attitudes shape our spiritual growth. Are we humble and open to God’s direction? Reflect on your prayer life—are you prioritizing time with God, seeking His will in all things, and growing in intimacy with Him?

  3. Invite the Holy Spirit to refresh you: Pray for the Holy Spirit to break off any spiritual stagnation in your life. Ask God to breathe His life afresh upon you, your family, your life group, and your ministry. Let this fast be a time of revival and renewal.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for calling me to grow in Your grace and knowledge. During this 21-day fast, I recognize the areas of my life where stagnation has crept in. I ask You to reveal where I’ve become complacent and to renew my passion for You and for Your Kingdom. Refresh my heart, my relationships, and my ministry efforts. Holy Spirit, breathe life into me afresh—help me to grow towards the fullness of Christ and to bear lasting fruit for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
